Event Description
The Schools Ration Challenge is a nationwide fundraiser held during Refugee Week and organised by the international humanitarian agency, Act for Peace. For 3-5 days (depending on age), students will eat the same rations as a refugee living in Jordan and get sponsored to do it—just a small amount of rice, flour, lentils, chickpeas, beans, fish and oil. Every student is given a personal fundraising page so they can ask friends and family to sponsor them. Teachers, parents and guardians can take part too! By sharing their experiences with the people around them, they’ll develop empathy, raise awareness, and help create a more compassionate Australia. The money schools raise will help provide emergency food, healthcare and life-changing support to refugees and communities affected by conflict and disaster, empowering students to make a tangible difference in the world.
